I have wanted to photograph a North Carolina mountain session since before I moved to this state. Jake and Haley’s session was just beautiful. Stony Mountain Vineyards is on a hilltop overlooking their beautiful vineyard, with a mountain view in the back, and surrounded by trees. It’s also a wedding venue (!) and the styling of the venue is amazing with a rustic vibe with many details. We got some very pretty sunlight, lots of greens, and a little view of the North Carolina mountains, all of which I love.
A little back story…
Haley and I went to college together back when we both lived in Minnesota. After moving to North Carolina, I was itching to shoot. I reached out to Haley and asked if she and Jake would be down, I’m so happy she said yes! It was so great to catch up with an old friend and meet her boyfriend. I never would have thought we’d end up in the same state after college, the world is really so small. For their shoot, I wanted to have a view of the mountains without going too far. I’m in Fayetteville, NC, and Haley is in Charlotte, NC. The Stony Mountain Vineyards were right in between for us, about an hour from each way. It worked out so well.
Being from Minnesota (which definitely has its own beauty) it is so amazing to me to have these views so close to my new home in North Carolina. I can’t wait to get out and explore more of this state later this year.
The Stony Mountain Vineyards is a beautiful location with lots of fun events and things to do! It’s central to many major cities in North Carolina. Some of their amenities include a tasting room and a couple of hiking trails. They host great events throughout the year. And they’re a wedding venue, my specialty!
Their wedding rental includes most of everything you need! When renting the space you get access to their catering room, bridal room to get ready in, an area for your reception, and a ceremony location. To read more about their offerings visit their website.
You also get an amazing view of the North Carolina mountains for sessions and weddings, a view of their beautiful vineyards, and a lake for your day.
The Stony Mountain Vineyard would be a great location for a micro wedding. I would say it doesn’t cater for a large wedding well. It’s a smaller venue but truly a stunning place. I love a small wedding, this would be the most perfect spot to host one!
It’d also be a great location for a destination wedding! There are some incredible Airbnbs within twenty minutes of the venue for your guests or yourself! I’ve listed some below:
I love the idea of a destination wedding weekend here – your wedding doesn’t only need to be one day of celebrating your love. Why not make a weekend of memories with your family and all of your friends?
Stay tuned for more dreamy mountain photos later this year! While you wait… check out my favorites from this North Carolina mountain session!
Whenever I don’t take photos for a while, I feel so excited about the sessions I get to do. I feel very inspired and fall in love with taking photos all over again. So, enjoy this North Carolina mountain session that really made me really happy !!
