Minneapolis wedding photographer – dillan and jenna

As a Minneapolis wedding photographer, this wedding day was the best with Dillan and Jenna! Besides these two being the sweetest couple, their love is so real too. These two were so fun to spend their day with. We took photos in front of every cool backdrop we found around the property. This wedding day left me feeling so inspired! We had the most amazing light throughout the day and ended with the dreamiest golden hour. Clearly, this all made it a favorite wedding day of mine.

Some of my favorite parts of Dillan and Jenna’s wedding day:

  • Jenna had a first look with each parent and it was so special for her to have a moment with each of them before the busy day started.
  • The pre-ceremony bride and groom photos. Dillan and Jenna had a first look (which I always love) and we set aside lots of time for the photos of the two of them. I love spending extra time with the bride and groom on their wedding day, it’s so special to watch.
  • PLUS, the golden hour we had. Before all the events of the reception began we snuck outside for five minutes = worth it! It doesn’t take much time and it’s always so perfect.

Dillan and Jenna got married in Monticello in June and I was so honored to capture it all. Check out their wedding day for a simple wedding, beautiful Minnesota summer colors, and my favorite photos from this day as a Minneapolis wedding photographer!

TIPS FROM A MINNEAPOLIS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER:

  • Take as many photos as you can before you say “I do.” Even if you want to wait until the aisle to see your significant other, there are other photos you can complete beforehand. Some of these include the bridesmaid and groomsmen’s photos as well as photos of the bride and groom on their own.
  • Don’t worry about the little things. Enjoy the planning process and wedding day! Nobody, except yourself, will notice the little mistakes in decorations or if someone is wearing the wrong shoes.
  • Soak in the moment. As the day flies by, remember to take a moment to notice how you feel. It’ll be something you’ll look back on countless times after the wedding day.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR MINNEAPOLIS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?

Typically this answer comes down to two things: the photographer’s editing style and personality. Think about what style of photo you’re naturally drawn to. All photographers do a mix of everything from portraits, formals, and candids, but their own editing style is what sets these photographs apart.

The personality of your photographer is important! Especially for your wedding day. Did you know you spend more time with your photographer than your significant other on your wedding day? I mean it barely checks out, but while you’re on the sidelines waiting for your turn your photographer is taking photos of your groom/bride with the people standing for them, their families, etc. You want to enjoy your photographer’s company so it’s important to know that your personalities mesh well!

Read about me and see if we’d get along! I always try to schedule a call via zoom for discussing packages so we can get to know each other outside of the inbox.

How much does a Minneapolis wedding photographer cost? Most photographers build packages for your wedding day. We all value different things leading up to the wedding day, which helps get the personal and meaningful images at the wedding. If you’re looking for a photographer for wedding photos, I can only speak for myself, my packages start at $2,600. You can read more about the details for pricing/packages here.

WHERE IN MINNESOTA TO GET MARRIED?

Some of the most beautiful wedding venues in Minnesota from a Minneapolis wedding photographer include:

  • The McNamara Alumni Center. The architecture is beautiful and would be a stunning place for a simple wedding day.
  • The Calhoun Beach Club. A stunning ballroom on a lake, perfect for an elegant wedding day.
  • The Grand 1858. I’m photographing a wedding here next spring and could not be more excited to shoot in this space.
  • The Mill City Museum. This venue is nearby many of Minneapolis’ popular spots and can hold up to 1,000 people, crazy!

Choose a venue that portrays you as a couple. A place that is special to you as a couple, a venue in your hometown, a city that held many date nights, or a venue on a lake you spent summer days at. This will add sentimental value to your photos. When you look back at them you’ll be reminded of the memories you made together.

I also love when my couples lean on me for inspiration. I have many venues that I’m dying to shoot at but just waiting for a couple to try them with.

Dillan and Jenna got married at their local church and held their reception there as well. It was a beautiful day.

WHEN TO GET MARRIED IN MINNESOTA?

Depending on your preference, this can vary. Minnesota has all four seasons, which gives variety and is amazing! There are perks to different times of the year as well.

If you can be more flexible, I’d suggest getting your photos done in the spring or fall. This is because of the extreme temperatures that winter and summer can bring plus you get pretty, colorful foliage in both seasons.

Dillan and Jenna got married at the end of June, which is a beautiful time of year in Minnesota. The strong heat hasn’t hit yet and you get the beautiful green colors that summer brings.
